| What is the programme? |

The main aim of the PAI is to promote and coordinate scientific research and technological development, as well as to articulate the scientific-technical and productive systems. The essence of the Andalusian Research Plan (PAI) is to promote the creation of a genuine culture of innovation in Andalusia, which encourages interaction between Science, Technology and Industry and, at the same time, pays special attention to the demands of the production sectors.

| Aims |
- To promote scientific contents in the media and communicate them in an accessible manner, offering the public the necessary tools to understand them and their adaptation to technological civilisation.
- To increase awareness among researchers of the Research and Development programme of the need to communicate their activities and results with a view to increasing society’s knowledge of scientific discoveries.
- To encourage the role of the scientific or technological communicator among the different agents of the R&D system.
- To serve as a bridge between scientists, journalists and society, with a view to promoting national and international communication of research results obtained in Andalusia.
- To increase the interest and awareness for science and technology among leaders and the general public.

| Levels of action |
|
1. Scientific community
- To involve all PAI area directors in the communication strategy.
- To carry out information campaigns to explain to the public the aims and initiatives of the scientific community, and the lines of research currently being worked on in Andalusia.
- To communicate to the public the results achieved, and their role in improving quality of life.
2. Educational community
- Training of specialists in scientific communication (teachers, researchers, journalists, etc.)
- Development of training and information programmes on current issues, with special attention to scientific communication.
3. Media Community
- To support specialised training of journalists in science and technology.
- To foster and collaborate in science supplements of Andalusian newspapers and magazines.
- To support and promote scientific communication to centres and institutions carrying out research in Andalusia.
4. Training of monitors
- Annual award of grants for the training of Monitors for the Andalusian Programme of Scientific Communication, located in different research centres and universities in Andalusia with the aim of divulging the results of the scientific and technological research carried out in these centres
